Mariko Sanchanta joins Fidelity International as head of corporate communications of Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.
She is responsible for the company’s corporate communications strategy across the region, including Japan. She leads a team across Hong Kong and Tokyo and will support the Asia-based management team in the achievement of the region’s business goals.
Sanchanta will report to Peter Yandle, head of corporate affairs in London, and work closely with Mark Talbot, managing director Asia Pacific ex-Japan.
She joins from Burson-Marsteller, where she was the Asia-Pacific regional managing director of media. Prior to that, she was a journalist at the Financial Times for a decade in New York, London and Tokyo and also an editor and reporter with the Wall Street Journal in Tokyo and Hong Kong for five years.
“We are delighted that Mariko is joining our team in Asia to drive forward our external communications strategy. She brings with her an impressive skill-set from the worlds of both financial journalism and public relations,” said Yandle.
