Fave Malaysia has partnered with local online grocery retailer Potboy Groceries to organise an online-to-offline (O2O) grocery sale from 6th to 8th July at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.As part of this partnership, Fave has already begun pre-selling popular household goods such as soft drinks, instant noodles, coffee and many others on its platform. Upon purchasing the items, customers can redeem them at the event itself with FavePay being the only accepted form of payment. Brands such as Coca-Cola, Nestle and F&N are also participating in the O2O grocery sale, offering up to 75% off of their products. In a statement to A+M, Wong Chee Mun, head of special projects and strategic communications, said having tackled the food and beverage and retail categories, Fave identified grocery shopping as the next potential opportunity to drive huge adoption of cashless payments. It chose to partner with Potboy because of its mission to penetrate into the online grocery market and simplify consumers' shopping experience with curated goods and tips."We want more Malaysians to shift from paying their daily essentials with cash to cashless payments. FavePay, which is our very own mobile payments platform, was designed with the intention to help consumers ease into cashless payments," Wong added.Nikhil Khandelwal said one of the biggest factors that hinders the adoption of mobile payments among retail businesses is the complexity and high investment cost in terminals and fees in setting up a new payment platform."With FavePay, we want to provide businesses with a convenient, quick-to-market and risk-free way to easily accept mobile payments through our online platform. We are honoured to have been selected by Potboy as their preferred choice of payments for this event," Khandelwal said.Meanwhile, Eddie Chew, CEO of Potboy Groceries, said the company expects to see "thousands of customers" to visit this event as groceries are a necessity for all households. "As we move forward as a nation, we need to recognise that going cashless will be key part of that future and we at Potboy are ready to do our part to help push this forward," Chew added.Read more: Fave’s Joel Neoh on entrepreneurship, making mistakes and cashless societies AirAsia BIG Loyalty and Fave combine forces to create ‘big deals’(Photo courtesy: 123RF)
