In a note to its members seen by Marketing, senior committee members of the Media Publishers Association Singapore (MPAS) have resigned from the publishing association.
An email from the association’s executive director James Chen has said that committee members Mongoose Publishing MD Russell Channon (vice president of MPAS); Expat Living’s Katie Peace, (treasurer) and Campaign Asia Southeast Asia editor Nikki Wicks (secretary) have resigned.
Here’s the note from MPAS by Chen:
The Media Publishers Association Singapore’s Executive Committee from Mongoose Publishing Pte Ltd, Expat Living Publications and Haymarket Media Asia Pte Ltd, together with James Chen, the association’s Executive Director, have jointly resigned from their respective positions at the association.
An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will be called within the next 7 days to re-elect all office bearers including that of the President’s position. Further details of the EGM will be announced by John Thet.
This leaves current president of MPAS is John Thet, the publisher of Asian Geographic Magazines, who took on the role in March of this year from Raymond Wong, and Alex Cano of Russian Singapore (committee member).
UPDATE: Thet and Chen confirmed his resignation.
When asked about the note sent out by Chen, Thet also confirmed its accuracy, but said the only member to have officially sent in a resignation letter was Wicks. The others have yet to send in official resignation letters, said Thet, and he cannot call the EGM yet, as stated in the email.
Channon has confirmed his departure, declining to comment further. Marketing is reaching out to Wicks and Peace.
