Essence has appointed Kingshuk Mitra (pictured left) as chief operating officer, APAC and Monica Bhatia (pictured right) vice president, client partner to bolster its APAC leadership team.
Based out of Essence’s Singapore office, Mitra will report to Rich Mooney, global COO of Essence. In this newly created role, Mitra will be helping Kyoko Matsushita, CEO of APAC, to define and achieve the agency’s strategic priorities. In addition, he will be partnering with client services and wider agency disciplines to ensure the delivery of consistent work quality to Essence clients, and drive day-to-day operational effectiveness. Prior to his appointment, Mitra was the former managing director of Maxus Philippines.
Meanwhile, Bhatia has been appointed to lead the Google business in APAC. Based out of Singapore, Bhatia reports to Dave Marsey, president and global client director. In her new role, she will be responsible to oversee the account across six APAC markets, which include its Singapore-based hub. Bhatia will also be accountable for building and nurturing strong, collaborative client relations across the region and driving account strategies in specific.
Prior to Essence, Bhatia previously served as head of digital at Maxus, where she took charge of building the agency’s digital product proposition across 14 markets in APAC. In addition, she had led regional digital duties for key clients such as L’Oreal, Jetstar, and Unicharm.
