Disney Channel and StarHub launch apps

The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia (TWDC SEA) together with StarHub, Singapore’s leading pay TV operator will launch a new mobile video streaming service from 7 December onwards.It will launch three new innovative entertainment apps - Watch Disney Channel, Watch Disney Xd, and Watch Disney Junior.StarHub TV customers who subscribe to Disney Channel can now stream these channels live on the multiscreen service StarHub TV Anywhere. Meanwhile, non-authenticated users will still be able to download the WATCH apps to access selected content and a limited number of “on demand” episodes each month.The Watch Disney apps will provide StarHub TV customers with access to Disney Channel’s existing live, television network streams, exclusive and first-hand content, as well as an extensive offering of premiere “on demand” episodes.Disney fans can now view all popular Disney television series on the go and will also be able to access new episodes of selected shows on the Watch apps first before it launches on the TV channel. The free Watch Disney was also created with a simple child-friendly user interface in mind.Apart from streaming of live TV channels and on-demand content, there’s also the episodes catch-up function. Kids and their families will have language options and can choose to watch Disney programmes in English, Mandarin or Malay.“We’re excited to offer Disney fans of all ages more opportunities to watch, interact, personalise and enjoy our Disney shows when and where they want it,” said Natasha Malhotra, General Manager, branded media content, TWDC SEA.
