DBS names new group head of strategy and planning

DBS has appointed veteran banker Shee Tse Koon as its new group head of strategy and planning.Shee joins DBS today from Standard Chartered Bank, where he was most recently CEO of its Indonesian franchise- the Singapore bank told Marketing.At DBS, Shee will report to CEO Piyush Gupta and be a member of the bank's group management committee (GMC). He is tasked to help in developing and implementing the ongoing strategy for the bank. This includes providing thought leadership and counsel to the senior leadership team on major strategic issues. He will also be instrumental in operationalising the bank's organic and inorganic initiatives, said DBS's spokesperson.Prior to his posting in Indonesia, he was head of governance (Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas), based in the United Arab Emirates, as well as chief information officer and head of technology and operations for Standard Chartered in Singapore. In addition, he was once a executive assistant to Standard Chartered’s group executive director for Africa & the Middle East, based in the UK.Chief executive officer of DBS, Piyush Gupta said, “Shee has a broad-based international banking background, and has demonstrated through his career a tremendous ability to take on diverse roles and deliver results in both developed and emerging markets.""DBS has been able to deliver consistently strong results because of strategic clarity and disciplined execution of strategy and Shee’s appointment will strengthen our strategic and planning capabilities as the bank continues to entrench its leadership in Asia and shape the future of banking," Gupta added.
