Crazy women video: GAB denies involvement

A video titled "Crazy woman beats up Beer Factory waiter over Guinness" has flooded social media with some netizens asking if it was for real.At one glance, it reminded us of the recent marriage proposal viral video that was later made known as part of Cadbury's marketing stunt. With the Arthur's Day Celebration coming up on 27 September, we asked Guinness if this was a marketing stunt? The brand denied any association with the video. When contacted by A+M, Bruce Dallas, marketing director of Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) said a statement:The viral YouTube video posted on 12 September 2013 by user TheInsanelyhuman was not produced by GAB or any of our subsidiaries or agencies under our instructions, nor did we have any knowledge of the production of this video prior to its posting.GAB has a Code of Marketing that governs all our commercial communications and it prohibits offensive marketing. All commercial communications go through a process with several levels of approval, and this video would not have passed through. The video certainly does not reflect the spirit of Guinness or our upcoming Guinness Arthur's Day Celebration, where we hope consumers will join us to celebrate the legacy of Arthur Guinness and the people like him who make bold choices in life. The Beer Factory could not be contacted at the time of publication. The video started off with two women in an intense situation when their request for beer was somehow denied. One of the angry ladies demanded for an answer to where is her pint of beer is after which she bashed the waiter with her handbag. The video was posted by someone with the username TheInsanelyhuman and it has received 71,719 views so far and counting.Click here to view the video.
