LOOK Coca-Cola gets free cameo in Oscars

After Apple unwittingly stole Samsung’s limelight last night when host Ellen DeGeneres was caught tweeting from her iPhone despite Samsung’s sponsorship (Read more in The brand behind the Oscars’ most tweeted selfie), it looks like DeGeneres has done it again with another sponsor.While Pepsi is the exclusive soft-drink sponsor of the Oscars 2014, rival Coca-Cola made a surprise cameo with host Ellen DeGeneres decided to order pizza for her star-studded audience.The pizza ordered was from Los-Angeles based pizzeria Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria who has long partnered with Coca-Cola as its drink provider."We were surprised and delighted to see them appear during last night's Academy Awards and think they did an outstanding job of bringing some extra fun and excitement to the show," a Coca-Cola spokeswoman told Marketing as well.Seems like Coca-cola skipped out having to pay an approximate US$1.8 million for the spot, the going rate for this year’s Oscars’ 30 second spots.This is the first time in eight years that Coca-Cola did not sponsor the awards. Last year Coca-Cola accounted for the third-largest commitment spending up to US$8.5 million.
