CNBC's international news team undergoes organisational rejig

CNBC, the world's leading business and financial news network, has made a number of changes and promotions within its international news team.Michael Kearns, head of news and programming for Asia Pacific, has been promoted to VP, International digital and head of news and programming, Asia Pacific. Kearns will be responsible for devising and driving the network’s digital product and content offerings outside the United States.Patrick Allen, currently head of news and programming EMEA, will assume the newly created position of VP, International managing editor. The role will assume responsibility for all news desk activities and reporting across APAC and EMEA.Allen will also be responsible for building and developing CNBC’s editorial prowess in key emerging markets and its ongoing collaboration with CNBC US and NBC News. Allen will be replaced by Noelle Murbach-Lami who joined CNBC in 2006, and currently acts as executive producer for CNBC’s flag ship show, Squawk Box and its popular morning show, Street Signs.John Casey, SVP International news and programming said that the organisational changes will enable the company to continue moving forward as the global leader in multiplatform business news delivery.In addition, Neelabh Chaturvedi, a senior member of CNBC’s digital team in Singapore, will move to a newly created role of newsroom strategy director International, with responsibility for developing data-centric strategies for CNBC’s editorial products and services.According to CNBC, this is as part of the network’s wider strategy to transition into a multi-platform global news provider.
