Local digital agency acquires Chinese firm

Digital engagement agency @ccomplice has acquired China-based Watt Digital. The acquisition will be for 100% of Watt Digital, managing director of @ccomplice Tobias Wilson (pictured) told Marketing.Watt Digital was created by Jimmy Teo, formerly of Reload Digital, and has been working with @ccomplice since 2010. Watt Digital provides back end platform development solutions. Following the acquisition, Teo will be relocating to Singapore and taking on the role of digital director. Meanwhile the current digital director, Ed Choa will take on the role of digital creative director.Wilson will continue leading @ccomplice. The agency currently has a staff strength of 15. Wilson added that he is stilllooking for a lead to head up its China office, which has a staff count of six.The deal is set to be completed in six months.“For years we’ve viewed the expansion into China as the next big step along our journey. With the Watt Digital team fully integrated and aligned, I’m excited to see just how far we can push the boundaries from a digital perspective,” Wilson said.Teo added that coming under the @ccomplice banner makes a “huge amount of sense for the business.”“Their strategy and creative mixed with our programming and technical skill represent a formidable opponent for any digital agency not only in Singapore and China but the entire region,” Teo added.
