Carat Asia Pacific has appointed Jonathan Chadwick (pictured right) as CEO of Carat Asia Pacific, as Sean O’Brien (pictured left) steps into the role of chairman for Dentsu Aegis Network Media. Both appointments are effective July.
Prior to the appointment, O’Brien held the APAC CEO role for six years. He also took on the role of Asia Pacific CEO for the group’s lifestyle and experiential marketing agency MKTG and out-of-home specialist Posterscope. In his new role as chairman of Dentsu Aegis Network Media, he will oversee these businesses and the media agencies Carat, Vizeum and dentsu X.
Meanwhile, Chadwick will be based in Singapore in his new remit. He was most recently CEO of Maxus Australia and holds over 22 years’ media agency experience. He held a range of senior leadership roles around the world, which included managing the Unilever relationship across Asia Pacific, leading the Nike assignment in Europe and then globally. During his time in Portland, Oregon he established a global hub for Nike which contributed to the production of breakthrough campaigns “Write the Future” and “Find your Greatness”, the statement said.
Nick Waters, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific, said in a statement that O’Brien’s new role was designed to help the network manage the portfolio of agencies in a streamlined and efficient manner. He explained that each of the agency leaders is responsible for managing their business, clients and people but will work to a single collective agenda under O’Brien’s direction increasing synergies and effectiveness.
“It’s great to bring Chadwick into the group. He has an exceptional range of experience in the media business and has a strong focus on client service, product quality and team culture. He is a wonderful fit for Carat which is the world’s leading media agency,” Waters added.
