PR agency Burson-Marsteller has appointed Angelina Ong as regional managing director for Asia Pacific. Her duties will include driving business development, providing senior counsel to pan-regional clients and shaping the firm's intellectual capital across disciplines. Ong will be based in Singapore and report to Bob Pickard, president & CEO of Burson-Marsteller Asia-Pacific."Christine Jones, Steve Bowen, Jackie Price and now Angie Ong are our regional MDs; they all have free rein to serve clients across sectors and relationships. Our regional positions are designed to transcend traditional boundaries. That said, we expect Angelina's brand marketing background and digital experience will be areas of particular focus," Pickard said.Ong has 16 years of communications, advertising and marketing experience, having served in PR and marketing leadership positions at Yahoo!, De Beers, Edelman and Weber Shandwick across Singapore, Mainland China and Indonesia. Prior to Burson-Marsteller, she was head of B2C marketing, APAC at Yahoo."Angelina's Asian perspective and distinctive blend of client-side and agency world experience put her in a strong position to differentiate our compelling offer for clients and reinforces the senior leadership bench strength we have regionally," Pickard said.Last month, BM rejigged Steve Bowen's role as market leader for Singapore & managing director to a regional managing director role, with regional healthcare lead Christine Jones to lead the local market in the interim.
