Burson-Marsteller appoints new Beijing market leader

Hong Qu has returned to Burson-Marsteller as Beijing market leader.Qu will serve as a member of Burson-Marsteller’s China leadership team and will focus on the strategic growth of the Beijing office, as well as providing senior level counsel to key clients. He reports to Ruby Fu, CEO of Burson-Marsteller China.Qu worked at the agency between 2005 and 2012 as director and chief consultant of government relations & public policy in Beijing. Most recently, he was chief consultant of public affairs & public policies at Edelman China and before that he was chief consultant of public affairs at Weber Shandwick China.Building on his understanding of the political, economic and commercial environment in China, as well as strong strategic capabilities, he has helped multinational corporations like Microsoft, Visa, BHP Billiton, Total, ExxonMobil, Mars, Fonterra and Haier develop and implement communications strategies that have helped grow their businesses in China.Qu started his career with the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), where he spent seven years assigned as diplomat to the Chinese Embassy in Santiago, Chile.“Qu Hong is a highly respected communications professional and his diversified background and rich experiences in public policy, managing crisis and brand reputation will strengthen the China leadership team’s capabilities,” said Fu.“Beijing is very important to the growth and overall success of the China market.
