JWT has announced a rebrand back to its old moniker, J.Walter Thompson. The move was first hinted at by Sir Martin Sorrell, who said the change would be a “slick and good move”."Throughout our history, JWT has been synonymously referred to as both JWT and J. Walter Thompson. In planning for our 150th anniversary, it became abundantly clear that the world and our younger employees in particular, had a deep appreciation and hunger for brand authenticity,” said Bob Jeffrey, JWT Worldwide chairman and CEO. This will include bringing back its Owl and Lamp logo. This will take place by 5 December 2014.According to The Drum, JWT is running a yearlong program of events and activations to celebrate its anniversary as well.Meanwhile, WPP has been making several moves for JWT in Asia. In the past year it opened a shopper marketing arm as well as acquired an Indian social media agency.
