Astro renews BPL broadcast rights

Astro has won the tender for broadcast rights to the Barclays Premier League (BPL) in Malaysia for three seasons starting with the 2013/14 season.Under the deal, all 380 matches of BPL will be shown live on the Astro service.Astro chief executive officer Dato' Rohana Rozhan (pictured) said BPL has been a part of a comprehensive bouquet of football programming to Malaysian fans.She added a mobile offering via Astro On the Go will be a core part of the service.The announcement has been viewed as a boost to the media conglomerate, with its share price down over concerns of overvaluation, as reported by The Malaysian Insider.Premier League CEO, Richard Scudamore described Astro as a long-term partner of the Premier League and renowned for quality sports broadcasting."We know that they will continue to broadcast the Barclays Premier League to Malaysian football fans in an exciting and innovative manner."
