ABS-CBN, GMA reveal March ratings

ABS-CBN has claimed the ratings lead outside of Manila while GMA Network took over its rival in audience-rich urban areas, according to reports from their respective research partners.ABS-CBN claim was backed by Kantar Media, which reports that the network’s nationwide ratings last month was at 44% against GMA’s 34%.Kantar data includes Balance Luzon, which covers areas outside Mega Manila, where ABS-CBN’s average audience share was pegged at 52%. GMA was 20 points behind at 33%.ABS-CBN’s gains continued south, securing 62% versus GMA’s 23% and in Mindanao where it had 63% compared to GMA’s 22%.Nielsen TV Audience Measurement was responsible for GMA’s ratings lead claim, which boasts a healthy coverage of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila.GMA’s total daytime ratings in Urban Luzon last month was 35.7% while ABS-CBN had 31.6%. For Mega Manila, GMA secured 37% against ABS-CBN’s 29%.Nielsen TV Audience Measurement has a sample size of 1,190 homes in Mega Manila and a nationwide urban sample size of 2,000 homes. GMA said that Urban Luzon and Mega Manila account for 77 and 60%, respectively, of the total urban TV household population in the Philippines.In comparison, Kantar Media uses a panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes across the country.
