ABNxcess ups the ante

Newly launched ABNxcess, a digital cable TV service with high-speed broadband internet and voice calls, is looking to cater to about 2.9 million homes in Malaysia that are not Astro subscribers.The new service has already rolled out in Bandar Sri Damansara, catering to about 20 out of 800 households in the area.The service offers 50 channels, including KidsCo, Luxe HD and Al Jazeera and Australia Network.According to a source, even though the service has started in Bandar Sri Damansara, the company will not launch a marketing campaign until it acquires more subscribers.The company also plans to target about 300,000 subscribers in the first year to break even and that it has allocated about RM10 million for marketing in the first year.With the tagline "Access for All", ABNxcess is operated by holding company ABN Media Group.Earlier this year, A+M reported that it has targeted 17 prime locations throughout Malaysia to deliver its CATV services, high-speed broadband internet and voice services by mid 2013.
